PT Islamic Research Publisher and Faculty of Sharia UIN Jember Hold Scopus Writing Training 2025

In an effort to strengthen academic culture and enhance research capacity among lecturers and students in Islamic higher education institutions, PT Islamic Research Publisher has established a strategic collaboration with the Faculty of Sharia, State Islamic University (UIN) Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember. Through a comprehensive training program on academic writing and international publication indexed by Scopus, both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to elevate the quality of Islamic scholarship to the global stage.

The 2025 program was attended by lecturers and postgraduate students from various study programs within the Faculty of Sharia. The primary goal was to equip participants with essential skills in academic writing, journal selection, and publication ethics. The training covered key aspects such as developing strong research ideas, constructing systematic arguments, managing references, and preparing manuscripts that meet the standards of reputable international journals.

A special highlight of this event was the presence of Wahyu Abdul Jafar, M.HI, a prominent expert in contemporary Islamic law and Editor-in-Chief of MILRev: Metro Islamic Law Review. Serving as the keynote speaker, he shared valuable insights on strategies for publishing in Scopus-indexed journals, methodological approaches in Islamic legal research, and the importance of academic integrity in scholarly communication. His vast experience in research, publication management, and mentoring has provided participants with practical perspectives on how Islamic thought can be presented effectively in global academic forums.

The training was conducted in a dynamic and interactive manner. Participants were not only given theoretical materials but were also engaged in hands-on sessions to develop their own research manuscripts. Under the supervision of experienced facilitators, they learned to structure abstracts, identify keywords, and present arguments in accordance with international academic conventions. The workshop encouraged participants to be critical, analytical, and creative, while remaining grounded in Islamic ethical and intellectual traditions.

This collaborative program is part of PT Islamic Research Publisher’s broader initiative to promote international publication among Islamic universities across Indonesia. As a professional research-based publishing institution focusing on contemporary Islamic studies, PT Islamic Research Publisher is committed to assisting scholars in improving their academic writing and research dissemination. The collaboration with UIN Jember’s Faculty of Sharia serves as a concrete manifestation of this mission—bridging the gap between Islamic academia and global scholarly platforms.

For the Faculty of Sharia UIN Jember, this partnership is a strategic move to enhance the faculty’s academic reputation and research productivity. As one of the leading centers of Islamic legal studies in East Java, the faculty has long placed research excellence at the core of its academic development. Through this collaboration, the faculty aims to nurture a new generation of Muslim scholars capable of contributing to international discourse with a moderate, progressive, and contextual understanding of Islam.

The presence of Wahyu Abdul Jafar, M.HI., further strengthened the academic atmosphere of the program. His presentation emphasized the need for scholars to integrate theoretical understanding with methodological rigor. He illustrated that Scopus publication is not an unattainable goal but rather an achievable outcome through discipline, originality, and consistent adherence to scholarly standards. He also shared best practices for transforming Islamic legal research into high-impact journal articles that can attract international readership.

In addition to the main sessions, the event included an intensive workshop component that divided participants into smaller groups according to their research interests. This mentoring-based approach allowed for more personalized guidance. Each group was assisted by the editorial team from PT Islamic Research Publisher, who provided hands-on support in manuscript editing, reference management, and journal submission strategies. This structure ensured that participants could immediately apply what they learned and produce tangible outputs by the end of the program.

The program also paved the way for future collaborative research initiatives. Several participants expressed interest in developing joint research projects under the supervision of both PT Islamic Research Publisher and the Faculty of Sharia. Such collaborations are expected to produce innovative research outputs and strengthen Indonesia’s academic presence in the field of Islamic studies within the Southeast Asian region and beyond.

Beyond individual skill development, the program also contributes institutionally to UIN Jember’s broader research mission. With more lecturers and students acquiring the ability to publish internationally, the university is poised to enhance its academic standing as a research-oriented Islamic institution. This initiative aligns with national policies encouraging universities to produce globally relevant knowledge while upholding local and religious values. It also complements Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) framework, which promotes collaboration between academia and professional sectors, including the research publishing industry.

More broadly, this collaboration reflects a growing synergy between Islamic higher education and professional research institutions. PT Islamic Research Publisher brings an approach that integrates Islamic values with global academic standards. In an era of digital transformation and knowledge globalization, this partnership serves as a model for how Islamic scholarship can thrive within international academic ecosystems without compromising its ethical and spiritual identity.

The Scopus Writing Training 2025 emphasized that academic publication is not merely a technical skill but also a moral and intellectual responsibility. High-quality research and ethical publication practices are seen as part of the broader mission of spreading Islamic values through scholarly engagement. Through academic writing, Muslim scholars can communicate the message of Islam in ways that are rational, just, and universally relevant. Thus, this program carries both an intellectual and spiritual dimension—serving as a bridge between faith-based knowledge and contemporary science.

By the end of the training, many participants had successfully developed draft manuscripts ready for submission to international journals. Others began formulating extended research proposals for future publication under the mentorship of PT Islamic Research Publisher. These outcomes demonstrate that with proper guidance and continuous support, Indonesian scholars are capable of contributing meaningfully to the global academic community.

PT Islamic Research Publisher remains committed to sustaining this initiative through its Post-Workshop Mentoring Program, which offers continued consultation and guidance on revisions, data refinement, and journal correspondence. This ongoing mentorship ensures that participants can navigate the publication process effectively until their papers are successfully accepted by Scopus-indexed journals.

The Faculty of Sharia UIN Jember has also expressed its intention to institutionalize this training as an annual agenda. Supported by the faculty leadership and academic community, the program will continue to serve as a platform for nurturing research excellence and promoting international publication among lecturers and students. This initiative aligns with UIN Jember’s vision of becoming a center of excellence in Islamic scholarship that is inclusive, innovative, and globally competitive.

Through this collaborative effort, PT Islamic Research Publisher and the Faculty of Sharia UIN Jember are not only fostering academic partnership but also cultivating a new spirit within Indonesia’s Islamic academia—a spirit of critical inquiry, continuous learning, and intellectual contribution to global knowledge.

This cooperation symbolizes a forward-looking vision of Islamic scholarship in Indonesia: one that balances tradition and modernity, ethics and innovation, faith and reason. By engaging scholars like Wahyu Abdul Jafar, M.HI, who combine expertise, professionalism, and dedication to academic integrity, the program serves as an inspiring model for the development of Islamic legal studies and research excellence in the contemporary era.

Ultimately, the Scopus Writing Training 2025 stands as evidence that academic progress in Islamic universities does not solely depend on institutional resources, but also on collaborative spirit and the shared determination to grow. Through the synergy between PT Islamic Research Publisher and the Faculty of Sharia UIN Jember, new pathways are opening for Indonesian scholars to contribute to the global body of knowledge—producing works that are intellectually rigorous, ethically grounded, and globally relevant.
