Sriwijaya University successfully organized the Workshop on Enhancing the Management of Sinta 2 Economics Journals Toward Scopus Indexation on June 10–11, 2026. The event formed part of the university’s strategic initiative to strengthen the capacity of journal managers and editorial teams in improving journal governance, maintaining national accreditation standards, and preparing journals for inclusion in internationally recognized indexing databases, particularly Scopus.

The workshop featured two distinguished speakers with extensive experience in managing internationally indexed academic journals: Dr. Wahyu Abdul Jafar, M.HI. from UIN Jusila Lampung and Dr. Abdul Qodir Zailani, M.HI. from UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Their participation provided valuable insights into journal development strategies, including editorial management, publication governance, article quality enhancement, and journal internationalization efforts aimed at achieving Scopus indexation.
In his presentation, Dr. Wahyu Abdul Jafar shared best practices in managing academic journals according to international standards. In addition to his role as a lecturer at UIN Jusila Lampung, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Nusantara Law, which is indexed in Scopus Q1, and the Editor-in-Chief of Metro Islamic Law Review (MILRev), also indexed in Scopus Q1. He is furthermore the Director of Islamic Research Publisher, an institution actively engaged in journal mentoring and publication development across Indonesian higher education institutions. During the session, he emphasized the importance of maintaining article quality, strengthening international collaborations, and increasing citation performance as key factors in achieving global journal recognition.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Qodir Zailani discussed strategies for strengthening editorial governance and meeting international publishing standards. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Al-‘Adalah, a journal that has successfully achieved Scopus Q1 indexation, representing one of the highest accomplishments in scholarly publishing. Drawing upon his extensive editorial experience, he highlighted the importance of professional, transparent, and sustainable journal management practices in building internationally competitive academic publications.
The workshop was conducted through a series of interactive sessions, including keynote presentations, panel discussions, journal consultations, and technical mentoring for economics journal managers at Sriwijaya University. Participants were given the opportunity to assess the current status of their journals, identify existing challenges, and formulate strategic plans for improving publication quality and expanding international academic networks.
Participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm throughout the event, particularly during discussion and consultation sessions. Key topics included manuscript quality improvement, international reviewer management, publication ethics, optimization of the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, and strategies for increasing journal visibility within international databases.
Through this workshop, Sriwijaya University expects its Sinta 2-accredited economics journals to further improve their quality and competitiveness, ultimately achieving inclusion in Scopus and other reputable international indexing databases. The event also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in research and scholarly publishing while enhancing its academic reputation at the global level.
