Bandar Lampung, May 9, 2026 — The enthusiasm for academic literacy among final-year students was clearly reflected in the Opinion and Journal Writing Class organized by the Faculty of Sharia UIN Raden Intan Lampung. The event featured Dr. Wahyu Abdul Jafar, M.HI, Director of Islamic Research Publisher, as the keynote speaker, providing guidance to students on writing scientific journal articles as an alternative to the traditional undergraduate thesis.
The program, attended by final-year students, served as a practical learning forum focused on strategies for producing systematic, high-quality academic articles with strong potential for publication in scholarly journals. In his presentation, Dr. Wahyu Abdul Jafar emphasized that academic writing has become an essential competency for university students in today’s publication-oriented higher education environment.
“Scientific articles are not merely academic requirements; they are also a form of intellectual contribution by students to the advancement of knowledge and the resolution of social issues within society,” he stated during the session.
The materials delivered during the class included techniques for selecting relevant and contemporary research topics, structuring academic articles, developing strong scholarly arguments, applying proper citation and paraphrasing methods, and identifying suitable journals for publication. In addition, participants were introduced to common mistakes that often lead to article rejection by journal editors.
The session was conducted in an interactive and engaging atmosphere. Students actively participated in discussions regarding the challenges they face in academic writing, including finding reliable references, designing research methodologies, and navigating the journal submission process. Many participants expressed that the class provided valuable new insights into completing their studies through scientific publication pathways.
Representatives of UIN Raden Intan Lampung expressed their appreciation for the contribution and motivation provided by Dr. Wahyu Abdul Jafar to the final-year students. Through this activity, the Faculty of Sharia hopes to encourage students to produce high-quality and competitive academic works while strengthening the culture of research and scientific publication within the university environment.
